YouTube introduces new Take a Break Feature to stop Smartphone addiction

Lot's of new things were introduced in this year's Google I/O, including Gmail Undo send, YouTube Take a break and many more. let's see what YouTube take a break actually is and how it can help you not to be a smartphone addict.



People are addicted to smartphones so much that they forgot whats happening around them in real life, specially when it comes to YouTube then most of the people are just crazy about it. Do you know according to an article published last year on TechCrunch
People now watch 1 billion hours of videos per day.
Yes one billion hours, you can think of that and how much people are addicted to YouTube.
Well this rapid growth in viewership and watch time is in the benefit of Google's YouTube but still they think people should not use their phone so much, and in response to this YouTube introduce new Take a Break feature.

What exactly is YouTube Take a break:

Take a break is just like a reminder (in fact it is a reminder) with in the YouTube app for Android and iOS users. What you have to do is to set an amount of time (Watch time) and when you reach that amount of video watching time YouTube will warn you and pop up will appear on the screen. You can set YouTube to notify you it's break time every 15, 30, 40, 90 or 180 minutes of watching time.

How to set Take a Break in YouTube:

If you are using an older version of YouTube app then you have to update it as it is available in the latest version only.
  1. Now open your YouTube app.
  2. Push on your Profile Photo.
  3. Now go to Settings and find the option Remind me to take a break.
  4. Set the time which you want YouTube to alert you and its done.
